【摘要】:Useof1,1,1-trichloroethaneanddichloromethane,whichdonotmeasurablycontributetotheatmosphericoxidantlevel,isawayforindustrytomeetgovernmentorotherregulationsonvolatileorganiccompounds.Thistestmethodisdesignedtodeterminethecontentofthesehalohydrocarbonsolventsinpaintsandcoatings.Thatcontentcansubsequentlybeusedincalculatingthevolatileorganiccompoundcontentofacoating.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftotalamountofdichloromethaneor1,1,1-trichloroethane,orboth,inpaintsandcoatings.Ithasbeenevaluatedforcellulosenitrate,alkyd,vinyl,andstyrene-butadienesystems.Ithasnotyetbeenevaluatedforotherformulations,butisbelievedtobeapplicable.Theestablishedworkingrangeofthistestmethodisfrom31to65%for1,1,1-trichloroethaneand32to78%fordichloromethane.Thereisnoreasontobelieveitwillnotworkoutsideoftheseranges.Thepresenceof1-propanolinpaintsandcoatingsrequirestheuseofadifferentinternalstandard.(SeealsoPracticeE260.)1.2Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardstatementsaregiveninSection7.
