【摘要】:Thisisasensitive,noncontact,andnondestructivemethodformeasuringthecoatingthickness(andinsomecases,coatingcomposition)ofmetallicandsomenonmetalliccoatingsoverarangeofthicknessesfromaslittleas0.01x03BC;mtoasmuchas75x03BC;mdependingonthecoatingandsubstratematerials.Itcanbeusedtomeasurecoatingandbasecombinationsthatarenotreadilymeasuredbyothertechniques.Thecoatingthicknessisanimportantfactorintheperformanceofacoatinginservice.1.1ThistestmethodcoverstheuseofX-rayspectrometrytodeterminethicknessofmetallicandsomenonmetalliccoatings.1.2ThemaximummeasurablethicknessforagivencoatingisthatthicknessbeyondwhichtheintensityofthecharacteristicsecondaryXradiationfromthecoatingorthesubstrateisnolongersensitivetosmallchangesinthickness.1.3Thistestmethodmeasuresthemassofcoatingperunitarea,whichcanalsobeexpressedinunitsoflinearthicknessprovidedthatthedensityofthecoatingisknown.1.4ProblemsofpersonnelprotectionagainstradiationgeneratedinanX-raytubeoremanatingfromaradioisotopesourcearenotcoveredbythistestmethod.Forinformationonthisimportantaspect,referenceshouldbemadetocurrentdocumentsoftheNationalCommitteeonRadiationProtectionandMeasurement,FederalRegister,NuclearRegulatoryCommission,NationalInstituteofStandardsandTechnology(formerlytheNationalBureauofStandards),andtostateandlocalcodesifsuchexist.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
